Poultry farming has emerged as an important income-generating activity for farmers. The present study focussed on the efficiency aspect of broiler poultry production in the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh. The use efficiency of different resources, overall technical efficiency, and the total factor productivity were analysed and discussed. Mean technical efficiency was found to be high (91.5 per cent), whereas the analysis of resource use efficiency indicated resources like feed and labour were not used optimally. There was overuse of feed and underutilization of labour. The average value of total factor productivity was low (0.01992). The study stressed the need for optimum use of feed by minimizing wastages and of labour by providing adequate trainings for them. There is a high need for the adoption of better technologies and management practices. Interventions are needed for awareness creation and training on scientific poultry farming in order to make it profitable and sustainable by increasing efficiency.
