Natural resins and gums (NRGs) represent one of the most labour-intensive sectors within secondary agriculture in India. The study investigated the status and export destinations of India's NRGs using the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) Index and Markov Chain Analysis based on data from the past decade (2013-14 to 2023-24). The findings revealed an overall decline in most resin and gum exports, with the exception of the "other resins and gums" category. Nepal emerged as the most stable importer, retaining 73.1 per cent of its imports, with some shifting to other countries (12.8 per cent) and Germany (5.9 per cent). The export competitiveness analysis indicated a favourable trade environment, while RCA indices showed only marginal changes during the study period. The study suggested that India should develop policies aimed at strengthening trade relations with key countries to boost foreign exchange earnings.
