Abstract

Organic farming is gaining momentum as a sustainable agricultural practice in India. According to global organic statistics, India ranks second in organic exports among Asian countries. In this context, the study investigated the trends and dynamics of organic product exports from India. Mann-Kendall test, Sen's slope estimator, and Standard Normal Homogeneity Test (SNHT) were employed to identify and quantify trends in the data. The result showed that the organic area, number of organic producers, organic exports, and value had a significantly increasing trend. The significant change points for the cultivable organic area, the number of organic producers, organic value, and export quantity were in 2020-21, 2018-19, 2011-12, and 2010-11. Sen's Slope result showed that the overall organic exports and organic value increased by 1.10 million metric tonnes and $1,100.57 million per year. The average annual exports were 20.07 million metric tonnes and realized a value of $13,522 million. The study findings provided valuable insights to the policymakers for continued support and planning to enhance the growth of the agricultural sector exports.
