ABSTRACT
The present study was undertaken in Chatha Nanhera and Taranji Khera villages selected from Sangrur district under farmer first programme with an objective of popularization of cultivation of chickpea and canola sarson in the area. A total of 50 demonstrations of chickpea and 70 of canola sarson was conducted in 2017-18 and 2018-19, respectively. Seed of improved varieties of chickpea PBG 7 and GSC 7 (Canola sarson) was supplied to farmers free of cost as a critical input the results revealed that in 2017-18 the total cost of cultivation was calculated to be `22180 in FLDs and `22846 per ha in check plots of chickpea. The net return from the demonstrated field and local check were found to be `52233 and `48082 per ha respectively. The B:C ratio for the demonstrated field and local was calculated to be 2.35 and 2.10 respectively and during 2018-19 was 1.99 and 1.47 respectively. In the case of canola sarson net returns from the demonstrated field and local check were found to be `63700 and `58815 per ha respectively. The B:C ratio for the demonstrated field and local check was calculated to be 3.40 and 2.89 respectively. During the year 2018-19 net returns were found to be `50540 per ha in FLD plots and `40450 per ha in check plots and B: C ratio obtained during the year 2018-19 was 2.6 and 1.79, respectively.
