Abstract
India is home of Tribes. The livelihood pattern, simple living, attachment towards nature and land reflects its rich tradition and culture. Though, the tribal population is an integral part of Indian society and culture but as the matter of social integrity, the situation is very different. Even after implementation of several developmental programmes, the tribal failed to gained similar status in Indian society. The exploitation on the part of higher social class and the peoples from plain areas has created barrier in their development. Moreover, the corruption on part of government functionaries and exploitation on part of industrialist has created tension within their territory. The tribals are the best entrepreneurs, as they utilize the available natural resources in efficient manner to satisfy their needs. This paper tries to highlight the effectiveness and performance of WSHG programme in tribal and Non Tribal districts of Odisha with the special concentration on the models of development, expansion, saving and credit growth. Efforts are made to highlight the inter linkage effect and impact of several promoting factors on growth of programme and credit on state.
